The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted a two year extension of tenure of senior IAS officer Shyam Jagannathan, ensuring he remains the Director General (Shipping) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Jagannathan will continue to serve until June 1, 2028, following an extension from his original end date of June 1, 2026.
He brings extensive administrative expertise and experience across several essential assignments at both the state and central government levels.
He plays a vital role in responsibilities across managing merchant shipping regulations, maritime safety, seafarer welfare, training standards, shipping operations, and compliance with international maritime conventions.
With this extension, he is expected to continue to support ongoing plans to improve India's shipping ports, help shipping businesses grow easily, and develop the ocean economy safely.
