The Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) has opened bids for tenders of solar panels over government buildings.
The RESCO model will enable government buildings to run on solar energy without requiring the building owner to overtake the entire process
Under the RESCO model, a Solar Power Developer’s bid will be selected, the builder will be allowed to set up solar panels on government office buildings at no upfront cost but will be allowed to sell the electricity back at a predetermined price.
The tender has been floated that invites bidders for the installation, operations and management of the 500 MW project.
The tender does not mention the project allocation size, contract tenure and payment mechanism.
A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 18th September 2026 in Patna at 2:30 pm at the BREDA office. The tender forms came out online on September 10th.
Interested bidders may submit their online forms by 2 pm on 5th October 2026, The offline window to submit the EMD, Tender Document fees, Bid processing fees and the required undertakings will open till 2.30 pm on the same day.
The project plans to shift Bihar towards more sustainable sources of energy while the private builder will look after the operations and management.
Similar schemes under the RESCO model have also been passed in Delhi (50 MW) and Tamil Nadu (20 MW)
