The centre invited bidders for development of 10 GWh grid scale storage system under the ₹18,100 crore Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to establish advanced chemistry cell (ACC) manufacturing on Wednesday.
The bidding will start on 14 October amid the closure of the tender on 13 October, according to a statement reported by mint. The pre-bidding conference is scheduled for July 29, 2026. The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) amount is of ₹10 crore, according to publicly available documents.
Earlier, 10 GWh of capacity was assigned for grid-scale storage out of a total of 50 GWh capacity under the scheme, to meet India's growing power needs and support renewable energy rollout.
The PLI ACC scheme was launched in 2021 and it underperformed significantly with incentive payout under the marquee battery manufacturing incentive scheme remaining zero.
According to earlier statements by the government, the core reasons behind the underperformance were across unavailability of technology, a shortage of skilled manpower, delays in importing critical machinery, and the non-availability of upstream components.
