Coal India Ltd (CIL) has started commercial operations of 200 MW of solar power capacity at Khavda in Gujarat, according to an official regulatory disclosure on August 7, 2026.
The Maharatna company stated that the 200 MW solar capacity will achieve commercial operation from August 8, 2026 at Midnight. This capacity comprises a major part of the company’s larger 300 MW solar power project being developed in Gujarat.
BP Dubey, Executive Director (CS) and Compliance Officer, submitted the disclosure to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) in compliance with Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The project Khavda will boost CIL’s expansion in renewable energy fulfilling the company’s ambitions to diversify beyond its traditional coal mining and power activities. Commissioning this 200 MW capacity boosts Gujarat’s renewable grid while supporting CIL’s broader clean energy goals.
