Emmvee Energy, Waaree Energies and Avaada Electro have moved their listed solar cell portfolios to a larger-format G12R N-type TOPCon technology as per the recent revision of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM-II) for solar PV cells by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The latest transition revision of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM-II) for solar PV cells was underscored by MNRE through the addition of their models.


With the new additions, the three manufacturers have moved past their prior M10/M10R and G12 formats with advancements in cell dimensions, busbar configuration, efficiency and average wattage.


Emmvee has expanded its EM16D1-TCM12R bifacial Mono-c-Si TOPCon cell alongside its existing EM16D1-TCM10 listing. The new cell increases dimensions to 182.3 mm × 210 mm and uses 16 busbars. Its average wattage is at 9.80 W and average efficiency stands at 25.60 percent. Consequently, the company’s enlisted capacity for the new model has reached 2,153 MW per year, compared with 1,553 MW per year for the earlier listing.


Similarly, Waaree has moved to the WSC-N-G12R-16BB from its prior M10R N-type bifacial TOPCon cell. Earlier, its model had an average efficiency of 25.54 percent and average wattage of 8.53 W, whereas the new G12R cell has an average efficiency of 25.39 percent and average wattage of 9.73 W. The latest cell has 16 busbars and measures 210 mm × 182.3 mm. This reflects that the company's expansion is majorly a move towards a larger cell format and higher wattage instead of a straightforward efficiency upgrade.


Meanwhile, Avaada has scaled up its portfolio to G12R 16-busbar variants from G12 18-busbar TOPCon cells. Its latest listings comprises both N-G12R-16B-HC-AVA, a half-cut cell with an average efficiency of 25.83% and average wattage of 4.93 W, and N-G12R-16B-FC-AVA, a full-cell variant with average efficiency of 25.71% and average wattage of 9.83 W.


Prior to the addition, the company has listed G12 18-busbar half-cut and full-cell variants with average efficiencies of 25.63 percent and 25.57 percent, respectively.


However, Avaada’s update does not equate to a simple increase in cell wattage. Its prior G12 full-cell had an average wattage of 11.28 W, higher than the 9.83 W of the latest G12R full-cell, while the half-cut version has similarly moved from 5.65 W to 4.93 W. The core upgrade lies in moving to G12R 16BB architecture from G12 18BB architecture, along with a minor efficiency gain.
