GIZ India has reportedly executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Power, the Government of Tripura, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL), and Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) to assist the state's commitment to clean energy transition in the next three years.
Under this agreement, the two parties will concentrate on expansion of renewables, enhancing institutional capabilities, and driving national clean energy programmes in the northeastern state.
The collaboration also aligns with the objectives of the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP) between India and Germany and targets to support locally led sustainable energy development initiatives.
Moreover, the agreement will support the enforcement of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and other central government initiatives. In addition, the collaboration will drive pilot initiatives, technical research and knowledge exchange centered on emerging clean energy solutions. Besides, the collaboration will boost women’s participation in the renewable energy sector via focused initiatives and capacity-building programmes.
