The Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Anurag Jain has been appointed as the CEO of NITI Aayog for two years, the centre announced on Wednesday. The appointment will be effective from the date Jain joins office, as per an order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).


Jain is an IAS officer from the 1989-batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre and prior to this appointment he has been serving as the state's Chief Secretary since October 2024 with his original term ending on August 31.


Moreover, he has served as Secretary in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and as Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).


He is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur with a B Tech (Honours) Degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School in the United States.


Over the course of his administrative career, Jain also served as Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office between 2011 and 2015 and Secretary to the then Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in 2005.


Furthermore, in the early stages of his career, Jain held district-level responsibilities across Mandla, Mandsaur and Bhopal as Collector.
