India has curtailed 8,133 GWh of solar power between April and June of this year, The Hindu quoted Minister of state for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik as saying.
While citing figures from the Grid Controller of India, Naik informed the parliament that these limitations were established for grid security and due to mismatch between commissioning of transmission lines and renewable energy projects.
In April India curtailed 2,417 GWh of solar energy following with 3,235 GWh in May and 2,481 GWh in June.
By June 30, a total of 162.15 GW solar capacity was installed which includes 125.6 GW of utility scale projects, 30.11 GW of rooftop projects and 6.43 GW of off-grid projects.
Furthermore, while addressing the upper house Naik stated that since the establishment of PM Surya Ghar in February 2024, it has attained more than 75 lakh applications, as on July 22.
Moreover PM Surya Ghar has witnessed above 39 lakh solar rooftops.
He also highlighted that the scheme has released ₹27,343.9 crore as Central Financial Assistance (CFA) by reaching out 48 lakh plus households.
