Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri met Member of House of Representatives and Chairperson, Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, Takayuki Kobayashi, in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“Privileged to receive Mr Takayuki Kobayashi, Member of House of Representatives and Chairperson, Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, Mr Kiyoshi Ejima, Member of House of Councillors, Mr Yasushi Katsume, Member of House of Representatives, HE Mr Keiichi Ono, Ambassador of Japan to India and other dignitaries in my office,” Puri wrote on X.
Sharing the details of the meeting, Puri added, “We had a productive discussion on strengthening the [Indo-Japan] strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation for a secure and sustainable energy future, and exploring new avenues of collaboration in the shipbuilding sector. As India advances on its ambitious path toward energy self-sufficiency, there are significant opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji.”
The meeting is viewed as a part of broader efforts by both countries to deepen their energy ties amid the global energy crisis triggered by the US-Israel-Iran war broke out on February 28, leading to attacks on energy infrastructure and selective closure of the Strait of Hormuz that passes about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas.
