A key committee in Iran’s parliament has reportedly approved transit fees from ships passing via the Strait of Hormuz. The measure was cleared by the country's National Security Commission, the Firstpost quoted local Iranian media as saying.
This development reflects a new set of regulations ruling over the strait, covering financial provisions that would require vessels to pay toll in rial (Iranian currency).
Furthermore, the Fars News Agency reported commission member Mojtaba Zarei stating that the bill also covers constraints prohibiting ships linked to the US and Israel from passing through the strait.
Additionally, there are provisions that would restrict access for countries that are in unilateral sanctions against Iran. It is crucial to note that the measure is currently inactive.
