External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio across trade, tariffs, energy, defence, critical minerals, artificial intelligence and regional security in a meeting in Manila on Wednesday. The talks were held on the sidelines of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) foreign ministers' meetings and the Quad foreign ministers' Meeting in the Philippine capital.
In a post on X sharing details of the discussion, Jaishankar wrote, "...Our meeting focused on areas which are a priority for the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, including trade & tariffs, energy, defence & security, critical minerals & artificial intelligence."
The two leaders also exchanged thoughts on the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its potential effects on global energy supplies and market stability.
Furthermore, According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India's visit underscores its active engagement with ASEAN under the Act East Policy, furthering its goal to strengthen the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.
