The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has withdrawn a temporary relaxation for the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar projects with immediate effect, closing the relief available for delayed projects. While some valid pending requests will be evaluated individually by the ministry.

The latest memorandum by the ministry was issued on Thursday, reversed its Official Memorandum (OM) dated March 29, 2024, related to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar modules stating that it has been two years since the issuance of the March 29, 2024 clarification.

The ministry also clarified that although an exemption has been provided for genuine pending requests, it should not be considered as a general exemption.

This decision aligns with the new ALMM 2 rules being phased in, potentially leading to 100 percent reliance on ingenious solar components by FY-2029.
