The Ministry of Power will present a tableau titled ‘Prakash Ganga: Powering an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat’ at the Republic Day Parade on January 26, highlighting India’s progress in electricity access, grid expansion and clean energy transition.
According to the ministry, the tableau traces the evolution of the power sector from universal electrification to its growing role in renewable energy and digital power management. The theme Prakash Ganga (River of Light) symbolises the continuous flow of electricity across the national grid.
A key feature of the tableau is a robotic smart meter model alongside wind turbine generators, representing the integration of digital technologies and automation in power distribution. The central section depicts a ‘Smart Power, Smarter Home’ concept, with rooftop solar installations highlighting the push for distributed generation and consumer participation in power production.
The tableau also features a transmission tower symbolising last-mile connectivity, along with an electric vehicle charging station and an electric scooter, reflecting the power sector’s role in enabling clean mobility.
The rear segment showcases renewable energy sources, including hydro, wind and geothermal power, while a structure labelled ‘Switching on India’ represents grid control and monitoring centres that ensure system stability and uninterrupted supply.
Mounted on a base designed to resemble coiled electrical cables, the tableau reflects the scale and resilience of the national power grid that connects households, industries and infrastructure across the country.
The ministry said the presentation underscores its focus on reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity as part of India’s long-term energy security and development goals.
