Shipping traffic via the Strait of Hormuz dropped to six on Monday down from a 10-day average of roughly 11 vessels, according to shipping data following a decline in prospects for a peace deal between the US and Iran, reports Reuters.
According to data from Kpler presented on Tuesday, four commodity vessels, including two empty oil product tankers, entered the strait.
Meanwhile, traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb strait on the Red Sea with 25 ships recorded on Monday as per the Kpler data, which is roughly identical to the 10-day average of nearly 24 ships.
Furthermore, US President Donald Trump countered Iran’s demands for a peace deal by demanding that Tehran pay compensation for victims of wars, attacks, and protests.
The proposal came as a response to Iran’s demands for restitution and an end to sanctions. The Iranian demands broadly align with the framework of a tentative peace agreement reached in June, which has since unraveled.
