The Strait of Hormuz won’t return to its pre-war conditions, and Iran will control the passage and the international regulations on it.
Iran's chief negotiator and parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war conditions and claimed control over the passage and the international regulations on it.
According to Iranian state media Press TV, Ghalibaf said, “Everyone should know that the administration of the Strait of Hormuz will never go back to the way it was before the war.” He added, "Of course, international regulations will be observed, but Iran will administer the Strait of Hormuz."
Earlier, he mentioned the discussions held in Switzerland, highlighting that Iran has compelled the finalisation of an agreement for the release of $12 billion in frozen assets.
He further stated that in the negotiations, the US was asked to revise a social media post within an hour, where US President Donald Trump warned Iran to stop supporting its regional proxies, specifically hinting at Hezbollah in Lebanon as a prime example of Tehran's diplomatic influence.
"We have never trusted the Americans; we don't trust them now, and it is only reasonable to remain distrustful in the future," he further stated. He added that Iran's participation in the negotiation held in Switzerland averted any further regional conflict while addressing Lebanon's borders and ceasefire terms. "Had we not gone to Switzerland for talks with the US, more blood would have been shed among Muslims and Shias in Lebanon at any moment," he stated.
