Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has increased its total utility portfolio to 12.3 GW by commissioning a 100 MW group captive solar project (TNGC-2) at Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages in Kayathar, Tamil Nadu.
The facility expanded the company’s total utility capacity to 12.3 GW and surpassed 7 GW in operational capacity.
According to a statement by the company, the details of the latest project are yet to be finalized adding that the project will supply clean power to various projects.
The facility includes TP Solar (40.625 MW), Tata Power’s solar manufacturing arm that manufactures high-efficiency solar cells and modules. It also incorporates Tata Electronics (53.125 MW), its electronics manufacturing branch focused on semiconductors along with Tata Realty Infrastructure Ltd (6.25 MW), Tata Group’s real estate and infrastructure development branch.
Prior to the latest commissioning, Tata Power has launched its 4.3 GW cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli. At present, it terms the facility as a ‘4.3 GW cell and module manufacturing plant’, designating it as its primary manufacturing hub in Tamil Nadu.
